Ira Katz – Founder/CEO
I started the company in 1978 and have built my company from a small neighborhood retail store into a national claim solutions provider. I founded CIS on the philosophy of honesty, integrity and keeping cost down for my customers. This is reflected in the reputation that CIS has earned of being the most complete and competitive claims solution provider in the United States. For over 40 years, I have presented at hundreds of speaking engagements for the insurance industry providing solutions and services for many top executives. Throughout the continual evolution of CIS into the leading National insurance service provider, I have remained committed to provide world class customer service and is continuously challenging my executive management team to develop new solutions and processes for the insurance industry.
Mike Cherven – COO/CFO
Prior to being with CIS I was the Regional VP for Wynn’s International, Director of Sales for Treatment Products LTD, and Regional VP for Dalbert Chemical. My extensive background and comprehension of the insurance industry has helped me propel CIS as the leader in the insurance industry. As the COO/CFO I am responsible for the overall operation of CIS. After 19 years of being with CIS I oversee the financial, marketing, claims, technical, installation, and consulting departments. I ensure all performance objectives are met and all new product and services are fiscally sound.
Douglas Friedel – National Director of Operations
As CIS’ National Consultant Director, my responsibilities include managing all of CIS’ Operations; Commercial, Residential, Specialty, DRP & Network Services. I’ve worked extremely hard to receive multiple promotions from the time I’ve started my career here at CIS. In addition to promotions, I was honored to achieve CIS’ highly regarded Employee of the Year award in 2014. I continue my endeavor to promote and build CIS in many different facets as witnessed in my co-creation of CIS’ highly successful Direct Repair Program (DRP).
Jay Hill – AVP Sales & Marketing
Prior to joining CIS, I was employed at Circuit City for eight years holding multiple management positions. I began my career at Circuit City as a Sales and Installation Manager in the car audio department. My successes there quickly lead to promotional opportunities including: trainer, policy and procedure master and ultimately the retail Store Director. Prior to working at Circuit City, I held a position as a Regional Director of Operations for Arlington Hospitality Management, Inc. In this role I oversaw nine hotels in Illinois, Iowa and Missouri and was responsible for sales, quality control, training and customer service. I graduated from Western Illinois University with a B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences and am also a Certified Claims Adjuster.
Nestor Silva – Director of National HVAC Group
With 10 years of experience throughout the industry in P&C consultation, my focus is on new company initiatives that promote revenue growth. Success in building one of the largest networks of qualified HVAC contractors has led to the successful co-creation of the Direct Repair Program (DRP) and the newly formed National HVAC Group (NHG). As Director, NHG has set the foundation to effectively oversee an HVAC repair or replacement job anywhere in the US. With my achievement of employee of the year at CIS in 2017, I look to continue to grow as a leader in an ever-evolving industry.
Phil Scarimbolo – National Project Manager
I began my career as a residential and light commercial service and installation technician. During my time in the field, I received my first NATE certification. I have taken courses in communication and management skills as well as completing the stringent HARDI certification program. I became a certified EPA testing proctor with two different nationwide organizations. I began my career at CIS five years ago as their National Project Manager. I am responsible for assisting consultants with obtaining accurate national standard pricing for parts, equipment, and materials. I use my technical experience and background to guarantee a 100% accurate scope of work to bring the policy holder back to a true pre-loss condition.
Mike Scaglione – HVAC Commercial Manager
I have been working in the insurance industry for over 10 years servicing clients in multiple areas including electronics, automotive restoration, and HVAC-R consulting. With the experience gained in handling all varieties of HVAC-R assignments including large loss, our Commercial department is equipped to assist with all of your HVAC-R needs. I am currently the Commercial Consultant Manager, and look forward to continuing our development here at CIS to best service our clients.
Kevin Boysen – HVAC Residential Manager
I have been working within the insurance industry for seven years and joined CIS in 2013. I have extensive training in HVAC equipment and diagnostics. I currently hold certifications in EPA, NATE, and Underwriters Laboratories specific to diagnosing HVAC lightning and electrical surge damage. In 2014, I became the Consulting Manager of our Residential Department where I am responsible for product quality review, training for new and current employees, client relations, client escalation, and employee development. I am committed to ensuring that my department incessantly meets the highest expectations for service to our clients, while continuously promoting company growth and adaptation within the industry.
Matt Wood – HVAC Technical Consulting Manager
I started my career in the HVAC-R industry in the 1990’s working for a heating, air conditioning and refrigeration service company. While working in the field I acquired numerous certifications including the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society, NATE, and ACCA. In 2002 I decided to give something back to the industry and enter into the HVAC-R instructional field. I taught with Coyne College and Environmental Technical Institute. It is as ETI that I was awarded the title of Certified Master HVAC-R Educator through HVAC Excellence and became the first educator in Illinois. My diverse background allows me to assist CIS in accurately providing the insurance industry the proper scope of work and cause of loss on a wide variety of HVAC-R claims.
Greg Thompson – Commercial Technical Manager
I started my career in HVAC-R over 35 years ago. Before CIS, I was working at Artesian in Illinois as a commercial sales manager. I currently work at CIS as the Commercial Technical Manager. Over the years, I have earned various certifications and licenses in HVAC-R, such the Green Mechanical Certification and a Mechanical Contractor License for Tennessee and Reciprocating States. As a Commercial Technical Manager, I’m excited to use my expertise in HVAC-R to ensure that we are consistently providing an accurate scope of work to bring your Policyholders back to pre-loss condition.
Scott Balcer – Manager of Network Services
I have been a part of the CIS Family for 4 years handling all our inspections and claim requests. When I joined CIS in 2014, I immediately helped continue to build our large network of qualified contractors. I currently hold certification in EPA along with managing our Network Services Department. I am a driven individual whom always simplifies the client experience through process and service tool enhancements. It is my duty to provide a consultative and personalized service to each policy holder and continue to streamline CIS service models through driving productivity and quality improvements.
Ralph “RJ” Ricci – Training & Consultant Development Manager
I have been working in the insurance industry for over 25 years servicing claims including first/third party property, casualty and litigation. I began my career at CIS in 2012 to gain commercial HVAC experience including moderating a PLRB technical video presentation on HVAC thermodynamics and training new employees.
In Spring of 2017, I was promoted to Assistant Commercial Consultant Manager with duties including those of a relief manager, reviewing reports, approving closures, handling complex HVAC large losses, assisting teammates and my continued responsibilities of training new employees. I am now of CIS’ commitment to quality/service and was assigned to develop and run a full-time training & development program.
Tasha Holbrook – Accounting Manager
I have been the Accounting Manager for CIS for the past six years, and I am honored to be part of such an incredible and unique company. I handle all accounting procedures, practices, and transactions under the direction of the President and CEO, Ira Katz, along with the VP and COO Mike Cherven. I maintain all financial statements and corporate tax preparations in collaboration with our CPA firm. In addition to my accounting responsibilities, I handle payroll, human resources, and health benefits in coordination with our Full Service HR Company. I hold multiple accounting certificates and am Quick Books certified.
